Are rubs necessary for ribs?

Question:-

Are rubs necessary for ribs?

Answer:-

The simple answer is yes and I must qualify that. What is the most simply prepared rub of them all?.....It's just salt and pepper!

Whatever meat you are cooking, a good dose of seasoning really helps bring out the flavor and that's why we use salt and pepper but can such a basic seasoning be considered a rub? Well I think that it can.

Having said that, it doesn't take too much to add a few more herbs and spices to the mix and make something a little more special. Try some of the links below to see what I mean.

Cajun Barbecue Rub

Caribbean Barbecue Dry Rubs

Chinese BBQ Rub

Jerk Seasoning Rub

Mexican Barbeque Rub

And here's the one you've been waiting for, my Barbecue Pork Ribs Rub
