Baked Vidalia Onions

by SCM
(Clayton GA)

The first thing that I need to tell you about baked Vidalia onions that a Vidalia onion cannot be grown anywhere else but Vidalia, Ga. It has something to do with the soil. It is a white sweet onion and you can even eat it like an apple.

What you need is :

  • Vidalia onions (about the size of a small grapefruit)
  • Butter
  • Salt / pepper

This is really simple but outstanding

Method:-

First take the onions and peel the outside as you normally would an onion then you need to core it with a paring knife.

Place in foil with a big hunk of butter in the core ,salt and pepper

Wrap the foil up tight and place on cookie sheet.

Place in oven or grill on 275 for about 45 +/- minutes.

You are ready to eat.

What a fantastic idea. Can't wait to try it. I will be making a big family bbq for father's day and I can't wait to try grilling up some Vidalia Onions. Thanks for the recipe.
