Kamado BBQ Beef Hamburger

This easy BBQ beef recipe is for hamburgers on the kamado style barbecue grill which has a unique experience. If you don’t own a “ceramic pot” then why not try one of my alternative hamburger recipes for the traditional grill.

Kamado Style BBQ These ceramic barbecue grills aren't cheap but I have to say that since I bought one I have become something of a convert. They say the the food comes out so much more moist and I really do agree, it's so much better than cooking on an open grill.

So you'll see that this recipe uses the high heat capabilities of the ceramic kamado to seal in the juices of my burgers but before we get there, here's a few TIPs on making patties.

The mix for the burgers is extremely easy because to be honest, if the beef is good than the traditional salt and pepper seasoning is as good as it gets.

Ingredients:-

  • Ground Beef (allow 200g per serving)
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • salt

Method:-

In a bowl, mix in the salt and pepper and make the patties.

Get your ceramic barbecue up to 340°C or 650°F and slap the patties on giving then a flip after 2 minutes. Now close the lid, shut the vent and damper and continue to cook for another 5-8 minutes. What could be more simple?

TIP - Shutting the dampers on your ceramic smoker is a great way to keep food warm but in this case were using the residual heat to cook the burgers and also to concentrate that smokey flavor.

Just a word of warning though, don't leave food in a kamado that is sealed for long periods of time because smoke does go stale and will leave a bitter taste in your food. The technique I'm using here is OK for high temperature grilling but if you're cooking at low temperatures for long periods of time it's important to keep the smoke flowing.
