Brick Barbecue Islands:
Build One Yourself

Brick barbecue islands with a built in BBQ grill are the focal point of any outdoor kitchen and with the right plans, if you’re a good DIY’er you really can build one yourself.

It's important to get the outdoor kitchen right especially if you like cooking outdoors and have the weather for it all year round.

If you have a grill or smoker outside you're handling raw food and no doubt you spend haf your time going back indoors to wash your hands, pick up the tongs that you forgot to take out etc etc.

If this is sounding all too familiar then this is where the barebecue island comes into it's own; it is effectively a work top outdoors with your grill or smoker built in. Now you can prep outside, and if you build a sink in there, you can rinse veg and wash your hands.

With a brick barbecue island you can effectively replicate your kitchen work surface outdoors, install cupboards and drawers for tools and utensils but not only that, you can add those finer points that make your neighbors green with envy....a chiller for the drinks!

When it comes to building your own the secret is not just having a good set of plans, it’s also having the experience as well and this is where I fall down so when researching this market sector my main thrust was not just to find sites that offer plans but where you’re also going to get that all important back up and after sales support.

Dave Jorde (AKA Dr Dave) provides all this and more for a very small financial outlay. When talking with Dave, I was impressed by his knowledge and above all his experience and continuous improvement of his plans. His CD contains 10 years of research, photos and documents. Dave’s package also contains the most comprehensive directory of weblinks that will solve many problems when it comes to those hard to find items.

If you're set on building a BBQ island then I would certainly recommend checking out his "Plans By Jorde" website before you go any further.
