Brinkmann Vertical Gas Smokers Temperature Control

by Jason
(Lakewood,Co.)

I'm having problems with my brinkmann vertical gas smokers temperature control, can anyone help?

I bought a new Brinkmann vertical gas smoker and followed instructions for the break in period.

The problem is that the temp went up to 400/425 degrees yet the damn thing was on low with my gas only cracked open. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it cooler say around 225 degrees? It doesn't have any shut able air vent.

Thank you for your time,
Jason

From Paul

Jason,

I've never cooked on a Brinkmann gas smoker so I'll do two things:-

1. Contact Brinkmann and let's see if we can get you an answer
2. Throw it open to the floor - can anyone out there help?

Add Saddle Tap Valve?
by: Wade

Jason,

If you're regulating the gas with the saddle tap valve, are you then running the pressure hose from the valve to the control knob on the pit?

I can't seem to think you now have 2 hoses using the saddle tap.

Thanks,

Wade

SADDLE TAP VALVE
by: GARY

Jason... do you have the make and model valve you used? Also I read that it is a good idea to add thermometer at each grate level. What does anybody think?

Gas Smoker Temperature Control
by: Jason

Dear Paul,

After many a hours of trial and error I was able to fix my problem by adding a inline saddle tap valve into my regulator hose. I'm able to control the temp from 100 to 350 or higher no problem. I hope this is able to help someone else in the future. It's a very easy fix when it came down to it.

Sincerely, Jason.

P.S. keep up the good work, your site is a godsend!!!
