Kamado For Sale

by Kevin
(California)

How much is my kamado worth & what model and year is it?

How much is my kamado worth & what model and year is it?

I have a kamado for sale and I don't know what price I should ask.

I am the owner of a beautiful blue-tiled Kamado BBQ, which I would like to sell. I am trying to determine what type of Kamado it is (#5? #7?), how old it is (10-15 years old), and how much it is worth in good condition. I originally posted it way too low (about $300), and was inundated with offers. Any thoughts on the actual value of this BBQ in good condition, only use a handful of times, working fine, with just a little rust and wear.

I am hoping you might be able to answer the above 3 questions based on this picture and the follow specifications: it's very large at 4 feet tall with a grill that is about 2 feet in diameter, I believe all the tile-work is hand-crafted, and I think it is likely one of the early editions for the entirely ceramic-tiled Kamado, which was released in CA in 1996 (where I live).

I really appreciate your help on this. Thank you!

Best,

Kevin

Answer

This is a difficult one! First to answer the model. If the grill width is nearly 2 feet then it's a #7 (actual grill width is 22.5 inches)

As to the age, I frankly haven't a clue. What I can tell you is that the black bands signify that it's a "traditional" kamado and the new price for a #7 is presently $750 excluding delivery and sales tax. The regular price is $1199 so clearly Kamado are feeling the pinch in this economic climate.

It is indeed distributed from San Diego, California so no doubt this is why your second hand one has proved to be popular. Rarely do you see a kamado for sale and I guess this is because once you've tried one, nothing really compares so I hope that this helps you pitch it right.
