Lingering Fish Taste

I have a gas BBQ but am afraid that if I do fish on it that everything else will end up smelling/tasting of fish. Will the basket I bought make any difference or am I worrying about nothing?
I do have a charcoal BBQ also but it isn't worth lighting all the time just for myself and it also takes too long until it is ready to go.
Answer:-
If your fish isn't fresh then it's time to get worried but having said that, I cook fresh fish all the time and don't have any problems with a lingering fish taste or smell.
Using a barbecue basket will help keep the fish away from the grate so if you're particularly concerned, do take this precaution.
Another option to consider is a Teflon mat. This will not only protect your grill but it will also stop the fish from sticking. You can put one of these mats in the dishwasher too. You can buy these mats at Amazon.com
Finally check out your grill instructions for cleaning. Most will suggest giving it a period of time full on to carbonize any food residue and the wipe down with a damp cloth. Again, this should eliminate any fish tasting residue.
If it's still really a concern, try plank cooking. The moisture in the plank produces beautifully steamed results and you can dedicate a plank or two purely for fish.
