Easy Marinade Recipe For Grilled Shrimp

This easy marinade recipe for grilled shrimp has its origins firmly in Thailand. If someone asked you what are the typical ingredients that make up Thai cooking then just reel off all the ingredients below and you won't be too far wrong. (Maybe substitute sugar for honey).

The reason for putting honey in was because I want this marinade to work as a glaze as well so that you can brush more on during the cooking process. That way you can really get that sweet flavor combined with the chili kick.

For the grilling basics, use this link for how to grill shrimps.

There's enough marinade for about 24 shrimp tails here. The marinade recipe is below and use this link for a serving suggestion and the full grilled marinated shrimp recipe.

Here's the easy marinade recipe for grilled shrimp already made up

Ingredients:-

  • 1 chopped lemon-grass stalk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 inch cube ginger crushed
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 red chili, chopped (with seeds)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Thai fish sauce
  • Juice of one lime
  • 2 tablespoon honey

Method:-

Peel the ginger, roughly chop up and crush in a garlic press to collect the juice in your marinade bowl (discard any of the remaining dry pulp). Now add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

Don't forget when grilling to use the marinade to lightly brush your shrimps!
