Origins Of The Word Barbeque

I’m both a word nerd and a BBQ buff. I recently added a post that looks into the origins of the word barbeque. You might be interested in looking it over.
To anyone else reading this I'd be really interested to learn what you know about the word too.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Clark for an interesting meandre from facial hair to buccaneers. I'm not going to discredit your post as I've never researched it and I'm really interested to know more. Is this really to origin of the word barbecue or is there an alternative view?
