Sustainable Barbecue Charcoal

by winnie
(los angeles)

I love barbecue, but I am now seeking a sustainable way to do it. Do you know how to barbecue by using bamboo charcoal?

Answer:-

I've never grilled with bamboo charcoal so I can't tell you too much about this - it's open to the floor, has anyone got any experience of bamboo charcoal?

You don't have to use bamboo to be ethical. Regular charcoal can come from sustainable sources, you just need to check the label on the bag.

It's a process called coppicing that allows wood to grow and be harvested without long term damage to the tree from which a branch was harvested. In fact, the harvesting process actually promotes growth to the tree that remains.

After that, the process of making the charcoal is the same the world over so next time you're buying charcoal, check the label to ensure that it comes from a sustainable source.
