Goldens Kamado
by: Jon Brower

Goldens cast iron 20.5
I bought the goldens over the Kamado joe. When I got it home it was shiny with oil. I thought it was normal, being cast iron. When I washed it off and did the first burn in it I found hand prints in the paint. Called customer service and they said I put the hand prints in the paint by loading it into my SUV to get it home. I am still wondering how I would have got vivid hand prints in the paint, maybe a scuff mark but not hand ‘prints’. They basically called me a liar and dismissed the claim. The cooker is fair in performance at best. I wish I would have bought the Kamado Joe. BEWARE Look for reviews on the goldens, there are very few. There’s a reason for that. They deleted any that I put out there.

Goldens Cast Iron Kamado
by: Paul

I've not cooked on one but I've seen one close up and they really are a monster of a grill and seriously heavy.
They're well built so I can't see any problems with longevity and they follow the same "airflow" principles of a kamado BBQ so therefore should produce good results.
Where I'd like to learn more is how well cast iron performs at the higher end of the temperature range. Getting a kamado up to and stabilising a high temperature for cooking pizza is reasonably straightforward and I'd be interested to know how it is with the Goldens Grill and how much heat is conducted through to the outside surface of the grill.
If there's an obvious negative from me then it's the spring system on the lid and the weight of the lid which seemed overly heavy along the same lines as the Primo ceramic kamado. I know Goldens also produce dumbells and maybe this is the reason why.
Last point, it may only be an issue for me in the UK but it rains a lot here and I'd be worried about rust. I was looking at some of the images on-line and quite a few show a Golden Kamado which is truly golden with rust.

It would be nice to hear a more rounded view from someone who's actually owned one.
