Walnut Wood Chips For Smoking
I am still experimenting with my electric smoker and have done pulled pork, chicken and ribs. In all cases, the taste was excellent because I'm always using smoking wood for bbq and grill. I've tried many different weights, sizes, and flavors.
Obviously I am not an expert on smoking but certainly, the apple wood chips are a contributing factor to the great results. But on the last weekend tried on family bbq for the first time walnut wood chips for smoking. Such dense and sodium smoke from such small chips I didn't expect actually.
The taste and smell were bitter and maybe even with sourness. Read many forums and found that the fruit mix with walnut should be fine, but not sure would try those chips once again.
It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of other smokers as to whether walnut wood is good for smoking and what I might do differently.
